Analysis of SINR for UMTS Rake Receiver-Smart Antenna Processing Using Two Different Modelling Approaches

چکیده
In 3G mobile communication systems, smart antenna processing is seen as a powerful tool to combat directional interference. In this paper we derive the statistics of the signal-tointerference+noise ratio (SINR) achieved by the combined Rake receiver-smart antenna processing for the case where the thermal noise is the only source of interference, and for the case of another interfering user. The results are based on the output of two channel models with disjoint approaches: deterministic raytracing model μFipre and the stochastic Wideband Directional Channel Model (WDCM).

BER Performance Analysis of Rake Receiver in Rayleigh Fading Channel for UMTS environment
The goal for the third generation of mobile communications system is to integrate a wide variety of communication services such as high speed data, video and multimedia traffic as well as voice signals. Under the Universal Mobile Telecommunication System (UMTS) environment the Third Generation (3G) has many advantages such as highly efficient spectrum utilisation and variable user data rates. I...

One of the biggest draw back of wireless environment is the limited bandwidth. However, the users sharing this limited bandwidth have been increased considerably by using SDMA technique that can enhance the capacity of communication system. There are some techniques that can increase the capacity of the cellular system, these areSpreading Technique, Error Control Coding Technique, Multipath Div...

With the exploration of multiple antennas at transmitter and possibly also at receiver end, the original concept of UMTS (universal mobile telecommunications system), specified within 3GPP (3rd-generation partnership project), needs to be reconsidered. While the so-called MIMO (multiple-input multiple-output) techniques promise huge improvements in spectral efficiency, in general, once constrai...
متن کاملAnalysis of DS-CDMA System with Smart Antenna for Different Bandwidths in the Wideband Multipath Channel
Abstract: In this paper, the performance of DS-CDMA system with smart antenna is analyzed for different bandwidths (1.25MHz, 5MHz) and different channel environments (rural, urban). For the analysis of smart antenna system, the vector channel having the spatio-temporal correlation is modeled as a timevariant linear filter in time, and each multipath is assumed as a reflective wave from only one...
متن کاملComparison of downlink transmit diversity schemes for RAKE and SINR maximizing receivers
In DS-CDMA communications, the conventional receiver is the RAKE receiver. In the downlink (base station to mobile) signalling with celldependent scrambling, orthogonal codes and a common channel for all the users, this receiver does not maximize the Signal-to-Interference-plus-Noise Ratio (SINR) at its output. Another receiver, with the same structure as the RAKE receiver, is suitable for down...
